There are two easy ways to find out which sync client you are using: If you're an Office 365 subscriber, but also want to sync across SharePoint site libraries, you can run both sync clients at the same time. The previous OneDrive for Business Sync Client SharePoint site libraries or on-premises instances of OneDrive for Business (instances that aren't associated with Office 365) OneDrive for Business Next Generation Sync Client OneDrive for Business accounts associated with Office 365. The table below shows which OneDrive for Business sync client you require. There are two different sync clients in use the " new" or " next generation" OneDrive for Business Sync Client, and the " previous" OneDrive for Business Sync Client. OneDrive for Business uses a sync client to achieve synchronisation with your computer.

Whenever you're online, any changes that you or others made while offline will sync automatically. If you sync OneDrive for Business files to your computer then you can work with them directly in File Explorer, and access the files even when you're offline.

OneDrive can be used to share files with Weill Cornell Medicine faculty, staff, and students. WCM users are also able to share files with peers at our major affiliate institutions, including NYP, MSKCC, Rockefeller University, Cornell University, and HSS ( view our full list of affiliates). OneDrive is the preferred method for storing WCM high-risk data, like PHI and PII. If you’re logging in from off campus, you may need to use Duo MFA. OneDrive offers mobile applications and sync clients however, offline file synchronization is only permitted on encrypted devices which are tagged and managed by ITS.

(Note: Windows PCs must be ITS-tagged in order to access OneDrive.) OneDrive can be accessed via any web browser by going to with your CWID and password, then clicking the OneDrive tile. The OneDrive sync client can be installed on your laptop, desktop, phone and/or tablet to let you access files from any device. It allows you to store, share, and collaborate on files in the cloud. OneDrive cloud storage is offered as part of WCM’s O365 suite. We recommend using OneDrive for your storage needs, particularly if you intend to store data which contains PHI/PII.
